November 3, 2024 marks the 70th Anniversary for the world premiere of the classic 1954 GODZILLA (Gojira). To honor Japan’s biggest star we have re-edited Bukimisha’s “a capella” re-creation of the Akira Ifukube film score as it actually is heard in the Toho film. As initially recorded and presented on their first BSX album “Godzilla vs, Rodan,”the group painstakingly-created vocal performances that replicated the score as it was presented on the original orchestral film soundtrack album. Several of these musical cues were cut, combined, or re-used throughout, possibly due to editing choices made by director Ishiro Honda after the maestro recorded the score.

Extra tracks include a longer version of the “Eiko-maru Ship Music,” and “Cemetery,” an unrecorded motif for a scene that was either deleted or never filmed. Also included is a bonus track of the opening musical sequence to GODZILLA, KING OF THE MONSTERS (1956), the American edit starring Raymond Burr as intrepid reporter Steve Martin.

This is a DIGITAL ONLY special release, mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland from Bukimisha’s original digital recordings. David Hirsch and Sam Scali provide notes for the digital booklet.
