The 2021 2xCD Deluxe Edition track 11 “Blue Velvet ” with Bobby Vinton on CD1 and the entirety of CD2 are new additions to the original soundtrack album.
Premiering on CD2 is an extended program of previously unreleased film cues, alternates and outtakes entitled “Lumberton Firewood.” The director David Lynch and composer Angelo Badalamenti intended many tracks to be merely “firewood,” their term for raw orchestral sonorities to be edited and manipulated into sound design by the director.
Liner notes by Tim Greiving, incorporating new interviews with David Lynch, Angelo Badalamenti, Kyle MacLachlan, and producer Fred Caruso.
